Matthew Pace

Secretary Of Association

Matthew Pace was born on 11th Jan 1969 and has been an entrepreneur since the age of 17. He began his self-employed career by opening a family business for 19 years, as a Golden Harvest outlet in San Gwann.

Eventually, he moved into catering in the year 2000, taking over ‘47 Summer Nights’ to expand into three restaurants in Marsascala, Msida, & Burmarrad, and rebranding into Uncle Matt’s Kitchen.

Like many, COVID-19 hit his businesses hard, and he decided to downsize and sub-lease while retaining only Uncle Matt’s Msida. Matthew’s adventurous business life led him to diversify into the property and hospitality market back in 2013, acquiring a 21-room guest house named Slimiza Suites (which still operates in the heart of Sliema, Malta) and also becoming chief executive officer of Corsa Ltd, the organizing company of a growing international marathon named La Valette and a triathlon named Challenge Malta, which is running into its third year.

In doing so, he diversified into international sports tourism while also becoming chairperson of the Sports Tourism board under the Ministry of Tourism. He also sits on the traffic management committee on behalf of the Association for Catering Establishments and is a board member on the commerce and copyrights board under the Ministry for Economy.

Matthew Pace served as the president of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association in 2014, being the only president this association ever had stemming from restaurants since 1958.

Matthew Pace is a founding member of the Liverpool Supporters Club - Malta, founded in August 1995, and one of the three founding members of the Association for Catering Establishments on 11th November 2019.
